Who’s behind the camera?

Hi, I am Christa Niedermann.

I am definitely one of those people that truly don’t like talking about themself so this won't be a typical "about me" section.

I never enjoyed those questions in an interview like “what’s your best quality”, “what’s your weakness”... really? Ugh.

Not gonna lie, I have been putting this together over a period of time with random tidbits about myself (lol). But I really do want my clients to know more about me. The person behind the camera, who they have trusted and chosen to capture their important family portraits.

So here it is -

I would love to start with my family - I am 100% a family person and they will always come first. I’m married to my best friend, Travis, and have 2 amazing little, crazy kids. Vienna is my 5 year old daughter, and Zion is my 2 year old son. You have seen pictures of them all over my page. I say my husband is my best friend, and I know it’s so cliche to say that, but honestly, he is. Something happens to me, and he’s the first person I want to tell. He’s the one I want next to me during all the things in life - laughter, trials, heartache, joys, milestones... all of it. That’s why we get married right? My children are beyond a doubt the smartest, sweetest, craziest, loving little beings I have ever met. I am not the best mom - no one is. I try my hardest to do all the mom things the best I can and that’s all I can do.

I can honestly say, I think I’m an introvert, ha! I think that’s why I do so well with photography, part of my time is spent with amazing families and meeting all these new people, capturing pictures for you all, which I LOVE. And another part of my time is behind a laptop, editing and creating amazing memories for you all to cherish forever. I may not be your best friend, but I am a loyal photographer who will be there when you need me. I have met some amazing people and families and I couldn’t be more thankful for you all.

Photography has been a part of my life for some time now. I have ALWAYS had a camera with me. My friends from high school can even confirm I had a disposable camera at all times. But my first “REAL” camera was given to me on my wedding day in 2011, a gift from my entire family. It was amazing. I fiddled with it for years. I took on “clients” in 2015. I had a little hiatus in between when I had my kids, but I came back full force 2 years ago and it’s been remarkable.

I used to be the girl in heels and make-up all day, err-day. But now? Psh. I am messy haired, no make-up, comfy running shoes and a sweatshirt/oversized shirt at all times - all about it Lol. Well, that’s me now - simple and easy.

I am super crafty and love to create things. I used to make little girl hair bows. I used to crochet scarves and blankets. I used to sell Usborne books (they are amazing, we still buy them in bulk), and also used to be a LuLaRoe rep. I always tried to have fun on my social media pages and loved playing games, so I brought some of that into my photography life, if you haven’t noticed already... games are my JAM on my social media platforms!

My weakness with foods - no doubt fries and pizza. This girl loves her some Costco pizza and fast food fries. Damn calories and fats - why are there such things??

I am a straight movie buff. Both my husband and I love movies. We joke about how we could be like a Red Box and rent out our collection of movies. I think we are over 500 now, but our movie-buying has slowed down a lot because of Netflix, our smart TV, Hulu, Roku and now Disney+ lol. Yes we have all the things.

Favorite show? If you know me at all, you know without question, it’s FRIENDS! The fact that there is a pretty positive rumor about there being a reunion in the making makes me want to cry from excitement. I cannot tell you how many times I have watched all 10 seasons in a row. My husband never saw a full episode before meeting me, and I made him watch it with me lol he loves it too! Maybe not as much as me, but he thinks Chandler is a hoot. “Could I BE anymore of a fan!?” The answer is no, no I can’t. I have requested a FRIENDS themed birthday party for when I turn 40 - I told my husband and family they have 6 years to plan this (lol).

I find so much joy in giving back. I am 33 and have watched our world get worse and worse and as I have matured, I have noticed that all we can do is control our own selves and what we do. If we are mean, we spread hate and negativity. If we are kind, we spread love and positivity. I will do all I can to spread love. I am not perfect by any means, but I try so hard to keep my heart in the right place. We all have the capability to be nice and to spread positivity around the world - it’s a choice. I even tried to start a movement (#payitforwardwithOUAP). It definitely didn’t catch on but I tried. I think I have a couple cards left, so I am not giving up.

Ok, I think I am tapping out, if you made it this far and enjoyed my “about me” section, THANK YOU for reading it all and taking the time to learn a little about me. It means a lot.

You’re more than welcome to ask me any questions as well.

Your photographer, Christa N.
